    There are few worse fates in life than obsolescence.

    There's an old saying that goes "There are three types of people in the world, those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who say 'what happened?'." It's kind of snarky but true. You don't want to end up as the "what happened" person.

    Sometimes things happen fast and other times things move slowly.  Remember encyclopedias? Remember when Detroit was an economic powerhouse?

    We all need to be prepared.

    When was the last time you went to a conference outside of your current expertise?

    How many people outside of your current industry do you network with on a regular basis?
